Argentine submarine still missing

(MENAFN) According to a navy spokesman, the one-week search of the missing Argentine submarine in the South Atlantic has gotten to a "critical phase", as the 44 workers on board might be running out of oxygen.

Many planes and boats are still going with the search of the ARA San Juan, which has captivated the country.

If the submarine had sunk or failed to go up to the surface since it gave its last location on Nov. 15, it means that it is using the last of its seven-day oxygen supply.

A navy spokesman said: "We are in the critical phase... particularly with respect to oxygen; there has been no contact with anything that could be the San Juan submarine."
