China wants closer ties with Myanmar


(MENAFN) According to a senior Chinese general, China seeks to strengthen ties with Myanmar's military, in order to assist the protection of local peace and security.

For years now, the two countries have had strong diplomatic and economic relations, ans China has offered its help for a crisis over its treatment of its Rohingya Muslim minority.

Over 600,000 have escaped from Buddhist-majority Myanmar's Rakhine State since a Myanmar military restrain, responding to attacks on the security forces by Rohingya insurgents in August.

The fighting between Myanmar's military and autonomy-seeking ethnic minority rebels has made China upset, as the fights are near the Chinese border, which made many villagers escape into China.
