Students illegally worked overtime at iPhone X plant

(MENAFN) Apple has confessed that high school students who were hired to assemble iPhone X phones by Foxconn, have illegally worked overtime hours at a Chinese plant.

A report by the Financial Times showed that more than 6 students from a group 3,000 from a vocational school were sent to work at the iPhone X plant in Zhengzhou, China.

According to the report, the students worked 11 hours a day, breaching the regional labor laws that ban students from working over 40 hours a week.

Apple stated: "During the course of a recent audit, we discovered instances of student interns working overtime at a supplier facility in China. We've confirmed the students worked voluntarily, were compensated and provided benefits, but they should not have been allowed to work overtime".
