Attorney confirms Conyers' determination not to resign

(MENAFN) In the midst of a House Ethics Committee inquiry into accusations of sexual misconduct, an attorney for Rep. John Conyers confirmed that the lawmaker is not planning to tender his resignation.

Arnold Reed the attorney of Conyers confirmed to CNN on Wednesday "Mr. Conyers is not going to resign, if everybody that was facing 'allegations' - including the President, members of the House and Senate - resigned, we'd have a lot of unemployed people walking around."

The attorney also added that the congressman is handling accusations of misconduct made against him "very seriously."

Refusing the allegations, Reed insisted "at the end of the day, Mr. Conyers is not guilty of harassing these women who have come forward. It didn't happen."
