Qatar- Indonesian community holds Football Junior Tournament

Indonesian community in Qatar in collaboration with the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the Indonesian Football Association in Qatar (IFQ) organised a Football Junior Tournament (FJT),Red Rhino Cup 2017 recently.

The ceremony took place on November 18 and attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, Air Marshal (Retd) Muhammad Basri Sidehabi; accompanied by IFQ Chairman, Dr. Rakhmat Soebekti; Chairman of Indonesian Community in Qatar, Edwin Kurniawan; and Indonesian Embassy official, Anwar Lukman Hakim.

Ambassador Basri welcomed and appreciated the football tournament held by IFQ to promote socio-cultural diplomacy in Qatar.

Particularly after the visit of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Indonesia on October 17 and 18.

'The tournament is part of the Indonesian community's continuous support to the 2022 World Cup. With as many as 30 squads competing, it is well poised to instill the competitive spirit, tolerance, team work, and fairplay in the young generation, Sidehabi said.

Dr. Soebekti Rachmat said the Indonesian community is always supportive of the Qatar Football Association.

The tournament is to facilitate Indonesian community as well as a mean of selecting talent players and to be trained to become Indonesian national team in Qatar. The team will represent Indonesia in the fight for the Asian Community Football Tournament (ACFT).
