Charlotte: air traffic controller with destructive weapon arrested

(MENAFN) Police reported that Paul George Dandan aged thirty, who is a North Carolina air traffic controller, has been detained on Friday for charges of possessing, transporting and obtaining a weapon of mass destruction.

According to WCNC in Charlotte, an inquiry into a call to police on 3 November with reference to someone possessing an explosive has led to the arrest. Once he was taken into custody, Dandan was fired and his access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport was withdrawn by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Charlotte Douglas Airport released a statement saying "the FAA employee only had access to the offsite Air Traffic Control Tower and had no access to the restricted areas of the terminal or ramp, he did not have access to any aircraft at the Airport."
