Kobe Steel says deadline pressure was behind data falsification

(MENAFN) Japan's Kobe Steel Ltd. said that an internal investigation discovered that pressure to meet delivery deadlines was relatively behind its using fake inspection data that has affected international manufacturers.

According to an internal report, the stress for its employees to meet deadlines and targets of production was somewhat the reason for its data fabrication.

CEO of the company Hiroya Kawasaki said it had a private policy and implied that management staff has prioritized delivery and production dates.

Kawasaki said in a press briefing: "I deeply apologize to our customers, clients and shareholders for causing so much trouble."
