Norwegian gas exports surpasses last year's

(MENAFN) According to newspaper Aftenposten, Norway exports of 123b cubic meters of gas to Europe in 2016 have hit record high, as it exceeded 2015's exports by 9b cubic meters.

Aftenposten reported that European gas demand increased by 20b average cubic meters from October 2016 to October this year, which was mainly covered by Norway and Russia.

The report says Norway had more gas to sell because the authorities have authorized extracting more gas from the Troll gas field in the North Sea, which increased the production from 30b to 36b cubic meters within 2 years.

Statoil company's Director of Marketing and Trading of Gas said: "There are several reasons why there is now increased craving for Norwegian gas in Europe," but the main reason is that the gas production of the EU has reduced.
