Slick routine by Vivaldi K as Al Rumaihi tops Doha field

Aflawless routine yesterday by Vivaldi K helped Qatari rider Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi clinch the 1.30/1.40m class on day two of the third round of the hugely popular 2017-18 Hathab Series.
Al Rumaihi finished the competition (against the clock) in a time of 57.82 to pick up the top prize of QR7,500 at the Al Shaqab Arena, venue of the on-going Longine Global Champions Tour's final round of the season.
Hathab, meaning ‘Canter' in Arabic, is an initiative launched by H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
Salmen Sultan Al Suwaidi, astride Guilder's Empire of the Sun, yesterday finished in second place in a time of 62.05 seconds. Al Suwaidi got richer by QR6,000.
Quel Homme, who had Nasser Al Ghazali in the saddle, ended the competition in third place in a time of 64.77 seconds. Al Ghazali won QR4,400.
Mohammed Said Haidan (Corrado's Coriana, 65.01 seconds) and Rashid Towaim Ali Al Marri, who entered the track with Beyonce, completed the top five. Beyonce clocked a time of 68.29 seconds.
Earlier in the Invitational 1.00/1.15m competition, Haya Mohammed Al Marri picked up the top prize of QR2,500 after Vrome van de Roshoeve produced a flawless routine to win in a time of 53.30 seconds.
Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi, astride Fudine, finished second to claim the prize of QR2,000. Fudine's top time was 53.79 seconds.
Rakan Al Hasawi and Ziezo ended the competition for juniors in third place in a time of 55.56 seconds. Al Hasawi won QR1,500.
Jassim Rashid A; Kaabi (Henrico, 58.58 seconds) and Mohammed Said (AM Haisan Expresso, 61.42 seconds) completed the top five.
A joint effort of Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) and Al Shaqab, the Hathab Series events will alternate between Al Shaqab Arena and QEF's Outdoor Arena. The series is being broadcast live on Al Kass Sports Channel.
The popular series, that started last month, will be spread across seven months with the final leg to be conducted next April.
