Morocco- Côte d'Ivoire Will Grant Tickets to All Moroccans for Decisive World Cup Qualifier: FRMF

(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat - Good news for Moroccan football fans: the Ivorian Football Federation (IFF) has decided to grant entry tickets to all Moroccans wishing to travel to Abidjan to support their football team in its decisive game against Ivory Coast on Saturday. Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) told reporters Thursday that "a series of contacts have been made between FRMF and IFF to provide enough tickets to all Moroccans who will be in Abidjan, including the 3,500 fans who will come from Morocco aboard Royal Air Maroc (RAM) planes, their fellow [Moroccans] residing in Cote d'Ivoire, and those who will land from other African countries or Europe." The good news was revealed on the sidelines of the first training session of the Moroccan team first that took place on Thursday in Abidjan. "A Moroccan delegation of about 50 [people], including 26 footballers, arrived on Wednesday night in Abidjan with their cook and food products before their World Cup Qualifier game against the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday," reported African News Agency (APA). The delegation is reportedly staying in Sofitel Ivoire Hotel, "after refusing the hotel that the Ivorian Football Federation had proposed at the Plateau, downtown Abidjan," added APA. "Strict instructions were given to the Moroccan footballers," including "to not talk to anyone, even their compatriots living in Abidjan who have no access to the players," an hotel employee told APA. On November 7, APA said that IFF had made only 400 tickets available to the Moroccan team's supporters, out of a total of 29,000 tickets to the stadium. Eric Kacou, Head of Communication Bureau of the IFF, explained to APA then why his country's federation granted only 400 places to Moroccan fans. "The IFF did more than the Moroccan federation, which in the first leg, gave us only 200 seats. But we have doubled the number," said Kacou. The Atlas Lions are only one point away from booking a ticket to the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. RAM started selling flight tickets to Abidjan on November 4 at MAD 2,000 for a round trip flight.
