Earthquake hits Jeddah in Saudi Arabia


(MENAFN) West of Saudi Arabia's city Jeddah suffered Tuesday from a major earthquake measuring 3 on the Richter scale, according to the Saudi Geological Society.

As Richter monitor measured 3 on its scale, the shake occurred on the Red Sea Opening Axis at a distance of 91 km west of Jeddah recorded by the monitoring stations of the National Center for Seismology and Volcanology.

Nonetheless, the quake was not felt in any of the coastal cities close to the earthquake because of its weakness, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing the official spokesperson of the Saudi Geological Society, Tariq Aba Al-Khalil.

He also assured citizens and residents that the seismic situation is stable in the region
