Sanders confirms his resolution in running as an independent

(MENAFN) In spite of the pressure from few Democrats relating joining the party, it was declared by Sen. Bernie Sanders that he will attempt a re-election run as an independent in the Senate in 2018.

During an interview on Sunday with Fox News, Sanders insisted on holding onto his independent status. "I am an independent and I have always run in Vermont as an independent, while I caucus with the Democrats in the United States Senate. That's what I've been doing for a long time and that's what I'll continue to do" he stated.

However, It was made clear by Sanders that Democrats are giving him a hard time regarding running as an official member of the party.

Bob Mulholland, a member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) had suggested a solution at the meeting of the party of both Sanders and Sen. Angus King running as Democrats when the time comes, although the strategy failed to pass.
