The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal' has announced that it will partially close Al Hamd Street, which connects Al Wajbah Street and Al Shafi Street, to enable road construction and utility works.
The proposed road closure, which is located in local roads to the south of Education City, has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. It will commence on Saturday 21 October 2017, and will be in place until March 2018.
With the partial closure in place, road users travelling between Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and Al Wajbah Street are advised to take the following routes:
For Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street to Al Wajbah Street, road users coming from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street towards Al Wajbah Street will be required to take an earlier right turn onto Ermaila Street and continue straight until they reach Al Wajbah Street.
Road users will then need to turn right onto Al Wajbah Street, perform a U-turn and head back towards the roundabout at the intersection of Al Wajbah and Al Hamd Street.
For Al Wajbah and Al Hamd Street to Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, road users coming from Al Wajbah Street and Al Hamd Street towards Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street will be able to continue straight to Al Shafi Street as per normal, but the number of lanes will be reduced to one lane for a 260 metre section of Al Hamd Street to accommodate both directions of travel.
The Public Works Authority has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit of 50 kph along the diversion routes, and follow newly installed traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
