We have shown potential, says Umm Salal's Sagbo

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Umm Salal's Yannick Sagbo is considered as one of the most prominent strikers in the QNB Stars League. His game is getting better after every week's action. He netted a hat-trick in The Orange Fortress' last game against Al Arabi and now shares the second position with Al Rayyan's Sebastian Soria in top-scorers' chart with five goals. In an interview, the Ivorian striker speaks about his team, their recent game against Al Arabi, the goals he scored and his ambition this season.

What's your assessment of the team's campaign so far in the league?
We're performing well and haven't lost a match so far. We're third in the standings on 10 points. That's proof of our potential to target a strong finish in the league campaign.

Did you except such positive results for Umm Salal?
Right from the pre-season training camp, we knew how good we were. The preparatory time was beneficial. However, we can't foresee the results.

How do you rate the previous game against Al Arabi?
We showed a high level of concentration and could put up an excellent performance.

Did you expect to score three goals?
No. I didn't. But one of the team officials had a hunch that I would score two goals. I'm happy to have helped the side.

What's your target with Umm Salal this season?
I wish we would finish in the third position and be eligible to play in the Qatar Cup.

What're the strengths of your team?
In general, the atmosphere at the club is very positive and encouraging. The players, officials and technical staff are like one family.

What're your ambitions as a player this season?
My main goal is to help the team finish in a creditable spot in the league. If there's an individual ambition, it'll be to break my scoring record from last season and net more than 15 goals.

There're talks about the possibility of your transfer to other clubs in the QNB Stars League. What do you say?
I always hear such talks, but nothing is official so far. I'm happy with Umm Salal and helping them earn as many positive results as possible is what I think at the moment.

Are Umm Salal capable of competing for the league title?
Yes, we're.

Will the target to be the top scorer put pressure on you in the coming games?
Of course not. On the contrary, it motivates me.

What do you promise Umm Salal's fans and team management?
I promise them that we'll try hard to be among the top-four teams and compete in the AFC Champions League. We're also keen on lifting either Emir's Cup or Qatar Cup.

In your opinion, which team has better chances to win the league?
I consider Al Duhail as the top contender for the league title.
