(MENAFNEditorial) NORTH CREEK, N.Y., Oct. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Saratoga and North Creek Railway announced today that it is adding an additional full-length dome car for its Train to Christmas Town event this holiday season.
This happy elf is serving cocoa and cookies on the Train to Christmas Town, in the dome car. "The full-length, Diamond Class dome cars are our most popular cars," said Matt Abbey, Director of Special Events. "Guests sitting on the upper level of these cars can look out of curved glass windows at the horizon and sky, and help search for Santa Claus. Tables for four guests make it easier to eat cookies and drink cocoa, and there is a special mug for Diamond Class guests. It's also easier to see the elves and characters." The on-board theatrical event is based on the children's book, Train to Christmas Town, which follows the story of a young girl named Janice and her friends. Train to Christmas Town includes cocoa and cookies, a reading of the book, a visit from Santa with a gift for each child, and Christmas carols on the way back. And, the train ride features an engaging cast of storybook characters including Wabash the squirrel, Zephyr the cat, and Bumblebee the bear, all going to Christmas Town on the train.
The festive atmosphere at the station and on the train includes original holiday music from the Grammy-nominated band "Trout Fishing in America." The book was written by Peggy Ellis, a lifelong educator, and was illustrated by Jeffrey Lee, who is best known as the graphic artist behind the 1980's arcade game Q*bert.
"Only a handful of full-length dome cars were built, so it is very special to be able to snag another one for Saratoga and North Creek Railway," said Justin Gonyo, General Manager. "We're thrilled to be able to accommodate more upgrade requests this year."
The Train to Christmas Town begins November 17th and runs through December 28th. Families can now look forward to more flexibility in planning their holiday trip with added departures and more Diamond Class and First class seating available than ever before. Exact dates, fares and excursion times are available by visiting or by calling 877-726-7245. Ticket prices range from $49 to $89 depending on class of service and date of travel. Families are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride.
