Qatar's capital market is the best and most important financial market in the Arab region and is among top ten financial markets in the world in many indicators related to measuring the capital market performance, according to the World Competitiveness Report 2017-2018 of the World Economic Forum, recently held in Kuala Lumpur.
Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) Chief Executive Officer Nasser Ahmed Al Shaibi said that the results of indicators of the capital market performance in the Global Competitiveness Report 2017-2018 show that the QFMA is moving ahead towards achieving its strategic objectives within the framework of the objectives of the financial sector in the country and Qatar Vision 2030. Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) Chief Executive Officer Nasser Ahmed Al Shaibi added that international reports, including the Global Competitiveness Report, indicates that the QFMA could make the Qatari capital market a competitive market with the largest and oldest financial markets, and to be the best Arab financial markets attracting internal and external investments.
This is supported and confirmed by the results of efficiency of financial markets development, in which the Qatari market ranked the first among the Arab and ranked the 10th at the international level and in the regulations of securities markets index in the same report, the Qatari market came at the first rank at Arab level and the ninth at the international level among 137 financial markets.
Al Sahibi said that Qatari capital market according to indicators of the Global Competitiveness Report is one of the least expensive financial markets for its financial services to investors, where it came at the first rank at the Arab level and the eighteenth at the international one.
The mission of International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirmed this at the end of last August when they pointed to the ability of the financial markets and the Qatari economy to adapt to the consequences of the recent political crisis.
