(MENAFN- Arab Times) 'Fingerprint attendance applies to all directors, heads of depts'
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 25: Ministry of Health has denied the reports concerning the possibility of transmission of several contagious viruses such as Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C viruses, and even Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) through fingerprint attendance devices.
Head of Thunaiyan Al Ghanim Gastroenterology Center at Amiri Hospital Dr Haifa Askar explained that transmission of such viruses happens through blood transfusion, use of contaminated syringes or sharp objects, or through sexual intercourse. It also gets transmitted from the mother to her infant during birth. However, these viruses will not be transmitted through touch.

Dr Askar stressed that no case has ever been recorded of transmission of contagious diseases through the use of fingerprint attendance devices, affirming, 'If that was the case, the World Health Organization would have declared it as a health risk and such a practice would not have been adopted throughout the world'.
Meanwhile, Director of the Department for Public Registry and Monitoring of Work Timings, and Head of the committee in charge of managing the attendance and exits Najib Al-Awadhi revealed that the circular concerning the application of fingerprint attendance system affirms that the fingerprint attendance system will apply to all directors, heads of departments and supervisors, reports Al-Anba daily.
He said the circular sent by the Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi is based on the regulations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC). Al-Awadhi explained that the ministry has ordered 25 finger-scanning devices for this purpose.
The company in charge of this project will identify the locations for installing these devices, ensuring they are placed in locations that will facilitate employees to access them when they use any of the entrances. These devices will be placed on all floors including the basement.
