Turkey approves agreement to buy Russian weapon


(MENAFN) Turkey and Russia revealed that they have agreed a new conrtact for its first main weapons purchase from Moscow, adding that Turkey set to get S-400 missile defence systems.

Moreover, it added that the main purpose of buying the surface-to-air missile defence batteries, which is the country's most significant agreement with a non-Nato supplier, is that Turkey intends to be careful amid crisis in relations with many Western states.

"Signatures have been made for the purchase of S-400s from Russia. A deposit has also been paid as far as I know," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced.
