Moroccans Top Tourist Arrivals in Agadir


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – Moroccans seem to particularly enjoy spending their summer vacation in Agadir. Moroccan tourists led the clientele of the various tourist accommodation establishments classified in Agadir during the first half of 2017, amounting to a total of 139,932 arrivals.

The number of arrivals from the various regions of the Kingdom to the seaside destination during the first six months of 2017 has increased by 13.38 percent compared to the same period during the previous year, according to statistics from the Regional tourism Council Agadir-Souss Massa.

French tourists rank second, with 69,059 arrivals during the first half of the year against 56,794 during the same period in 2016, an increase of 21.60 percent, followed by Germans with a total of 64,715 arrivals against 40,793 in 2016, an increase of 58.64 percent, while the British recorded 41,427 arrivals against 35,393 during the same period of the past year, amounting to a 17.05 percent rise.

In terms of tourist accommodation units, 4-star hotels ranked first, with a total of 184,459 tourists from different nationalities, followed by 5-star hotels with 100,840 tourists, while tourist villages came in third with a total of 88,470 tourists.

The overnight stays rate in the various tourist accommodation establishments since the January until the end of June 2017 increased by 15.14 percent.
