Kuwait- ASBU announces posthumous recognition for prolific actor Abdulredha


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Late legendary Kuwaiti actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha will be awarded with a posthumous recognition by Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU).

In a press statement, ASBU Chief Mohammad Al-Awwash said on Monday that the Abdulredha greatly contributed to dthe artistic movement in Kuwait and the Gulf region.

Al-Awwash said that the award would be presented during the Arab Radio and TV Festival in Tunis next April, adding that the festival will be attended by more than 600 media figures from all over the Arab world.

In a letter sent to Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Al-Awwash conveyed condolences of the ASBU over the demise of the of iconic comedic actor.

Abdulredha died last Friday in London at the age of 78 after a 56-year career, contributing to over 30 TV series, 33 plays, serval operettas and songs.

His acting career is often lauded as the cornerstone of Gulf comedy and the epicenter behind the Golden age of Kuwaiti theatre in the 1970s and 1980s. (end) mrf.haq
