FIBA studies and QBF numbers indicate Basketball participation is on the rise and has become even more popular since last month's IOC's decision to include 3 on 3 as an Olympic sport. We should now take advantage of this global wave of interest and bring Basketball to all.
Commenting about the GCC basketball organising committee Al Malki said; 'The committee should step up its efforts in been creative and bold. We need to generate initiatives that bring GCC basketball to the forefront. We have a need to create an elite competition that can be officially sanctioned by FIBA and serve to improve and develop player quality and skill raising the standard of basketball for its members beyond the normal top tier divisions.
