Israeli jets target Syrian military posts for third day in row, four killed

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, June 26 (KUNA) - Israel's jet fighters on Monday resumed for a third day airstrikes targeting Syrian regime's military posts in Quneitra, provincial capital of Syria's occupied Golan Heights, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

Casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them have risen as a result of the third Israeli strikes that hit Quneitra, targeting military posts and vehicles, the SOHR added in a statement.

The observatory has documented the death of four elements, at least, and the injury of many others, due to the Israeli shelling over the past 48 hours.

Since Saturday afternoon, the Israeli jets have hit military posts and armored vehicles in the countryside of Quneitra and near Baath town.

In the meantime, the SOHR cited sources as saying clashes went on between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against the Islamic and armed factions in areas in Quneitra countryside and Khan Arnba town. The clashes that took place after the factions initiated an attack on Saturday, are accompanied by an exchange of shelling between both parties.

The SOHR has documented the death of 30 fighters from both sides.

Damascus held Israel responsible for the "grave consequences" of the repeated strikes, according to a military statement relayed by the Syrian official media Sunday. (end) tk.msa
