First large-scale wind farm in Oman to start ops by 2020


(MENAFN) Oman's first large-scale commercial wind renewable energy project will start operations in 2020, while it is recently on hold and awaiting confirmation.

Furthermore, the wind farm, which is projected to be covered of almost 25 wind turbines will be located near Harweel and is projected to produce 50MW elect from its planned farm.

Additionally, the proposed wind farm will reach a total area of 200.000 square meters and the power capacity of the plant will be sufficient for almost 50 percent of consumption in the Dhofar area.

The Oman Power and Water Procurement Co. will have renewable sources of energy, particularly solar and wind projects, contributing to the power system in the future.
