Kuwait- GCC welcomes int'l community's dealing with Doha crime recommendations


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, May 26 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed on Friday the international community's transferring to national programs of recommendations of Doha Declaration, published at end of UN crime prevention and criminal justice conference.

The GCC position was articulated by Nawaf Al-Rujaib, Second Secretary at Kuwait Embassy to Austria, who was speaking on behalf of the GCC before a meeting of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

The meeting was preparing for the next UN conference on crime prevention and criminal justice, in Japan. The last conference was held in Doha, Qatar.

Al-Rujaib thanked Qatar for its contributions to transferring the recommendations made at the last conference into national programs.

The success of the Doha conference, he said, "inspires us to look forward that the next conference in Japan will be a remarkable contribution to achieving justice, promoting rule of law and sustainable development.

Al-Rujaib said the GCC countries were ready to provide all kinds of support to bring about success to the conference in Japan. (end) amg.bs
