At least 17 deaths in bus accident in Chiapas


(MENAFN) Local officials revealed that the death toll caused by a bus crash in south Mexico's state of Chiapas has increased to reach 17.

Moreover, the officials further added that approximately 31 passengers were hurt as the bus dropped off a cliff in the region.

According to the state's Secretariat of Civil Protection, "So far, 17 people have regrettably lost their lives".

Furthermore, early reports released by officials in the town of Motozintla de Mendoza confirmed that the bus holding pilgrims on their way-back journey sheered off a stretch of highway between Motozintla and Huixtla.
