Abboud said that French Alstom, a rail transport operator, proposed the establishment of a fast train system in Algeria. Algerian decision-makers refused, however, thinking it was %E2%80%9Chigh-end technology%E2%80%9D that had no place in Algeria.

%E2%80%9CIf you see the buildings and structures in Casablanca, you'd know they left us behind, it's 20 years more advanced than we are. I am jealous of them,%E2%80%9D he added.

Abboud pointed out that Algeria earned one trillion dollars in the last ten years and has not been able to make any tangible improvement to its infrastructure.
