(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, April 29 (KUNA) -- The visiting Pope Francis, of the Roman Catholic Church, led a mass at stadium of the Egyptian Air Force, with attendance of thousands of Egyptians, many followers of the Catholic faith, on Saturday The Pope, boarding a convertible car, circled the stadium to cheers of the attending people, amid tight security. In his sermon, he called for peace in the Middle East and the globe.
The Pope, shortly after his arrival in the nation on Friday, held talks with President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on cementing bilateral relations, affirming the Vatican support for Cairo in the fight against terrorism.
Sheikh Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayeb and the Pope, during a meeting yesterday, affirmed necessity of joint action for boosting peace. He also met Alexandria Pope Tawadros II.
