Oman- Waljat College of Applied Sciences to hold business workshop on May 3


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) is organising a one-day national workshop on 'Learning Business from Case Study and Research' on May 3.

Highlighting the importance of case study, Dr S L Gupta, dean of the college, said, 'One of the great things about case studies is that they are focused and targeted to meet the objectives; case studies are problem- and solution-centric and therefore case studies focus on a very specific goal that's related to your product offering. As a result, you can rest assured that your case studies are going to resonate with your target market.'

He added that case studies are research that focuses on and gathers in depth information about a specific person, group, community or event.Dr Gupta said that this workshop has been designed for all the audiences who can get the benefit and therefore this workshop is of utmost importance to all of them.

He said that Dr Mohan Lal Agarwal, US Fullbright Scholar and director at IHC Dubai, who has more than 35 years of experience of developing and teaching business from case study would be the resource person in this national workshop.

Professor Dr G P Mishra, organising secretary of the National Workshop, mentioned that in order to give the benefit to the maximum number of audience members, the registration amount for students has been kept low at RO10.

Dr Mishra said that the topics covered in the workshop would be National Business Study Through Case Authoring, Business and Choosing a topic for case writing, Business Case writing preparation, Content requirements and data collection, Template for case authoring, Techniques to bring out the Protagonist and his/her view, Legal and Ethical issues involved in case authoring, Business Study Through Case Teaching, How to choose the right business case study?, How to plan case discussion in-class? and Different case discussion pedagogies.

Some other topics that would be covered are Summarising learning from in-class case discussion, Contemporary software tools for case discussion, Student Evaluation based on case analysis and discussion, Components in student evaluation, Assigning weights to different components in evaluation, Student Evaluation and Feedback and Rubrics for case study analysis.
