Ministry of Culture takes part in Abu Dhabi Book Fair

ABU DHABI, 24th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, MCKD, will participate in the 27th session of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair which opens tomorrow, April 25th. The ministry's pavilion in the book fair will include more than 200 book titles from its releases, including young creations, translations, library studies, cultural and heritage books, literary and criticism works and a number of creative works by young writers.

Afra Al Sabri, MCKD Under-Secretary, said that the ministry's pavilion this year will feature five of the MCKD's initiatives related to reading and the #Year of Giving.

Al Sabri added that the pavilion will also include a number of events designed to appeal to writers and creatives. She assured all that the directives of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, is aimed at the positive and effective role the ministry plays among publishing houses and other institutions during large cultural events such as the Abu Dhabi Book Fair.

Al Sabri confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Book Fair is now one of the most important cultural events organised yearly by the UAE at both Arab and international levels. Not only does it contribute effectively to building cultural coherence within UAE society, but it also helps build cultural bridges between people of different origins.

Al Sabri concluded, "We in MCKD have a clear strategy in supporting and promoting the role of culture and knowledge in UAE society, in addition to creating cultural interactions and experiences."
