Letters to the Editor: Blessed to be in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) This refers to the report 'Oman among top five safest places in the world for tourists' (Muscat Daily, April 23, page 1). It is really heartening to know that the sultanate is one of the top five safest places for visitors in the world.

As the country continues to be recognised in the world for its peace initiatives, it is equally inspiring and a blessing that its vast tourism potential is also gaining momentum. Of my almost three decades of life in Oman, the first Omani individual I met was a person who believes very much in traditions. I had the opportunity to visit his home.

Visitors in Oman are respected and regarded well. Omanis are a supportive community who value the rights of others and their sentiments. Sports enthusiasts, in particular, look at the sultanate as a prime location for trekking and mountain walking. Women too are engaged in various sporting events.

A well-regarded woman facilitator who is in her middle age, visits Oman quite often and spends the weekend. She is in love with this marvelous country on the world map. The Dhofar region is a place known for frankincense. Anyone who visits the place just falls in love. Frankincense is precisely an endowment from Oman to the rest of the world, as it attracts people who believe and respect the culture and traditions of civilisations.

As I have read quite a few books on Oman and its traditions since I arrived in this beautiful country, the most interesting part is the sultanate's blend of talents, entrepreneurial flairs and the spirit of valuing its rich past. Along with realising the country's tourism potential, the Omani community has achieved success in emulating the challenges of new age. The sultanate being a nation that moves towards a path of transition embracing the changes, it continues to get recognised at many fronts, especially in tourism and socio-economic fronts.
