(MENAFN- Asia Times) A study by French pollster, IFOP, shows that, over the last three election cycles, support for Marine Le Pen from communities with high concentrations of police and military has surged.
Once seen as too far out of the mainstream to gain traction on the national stage, the far-right Le Pen is tapping into public frustration over immigration and law enforcement policy, amid fears of spreading Islamic radicalism.
Though Le Pen is still the underdog for second-round voting should she face the front-runner Emanuel Macron, the first round of voting this Sunday is still too close to call.
