Billionaire Gates counts on Trump's pragmatism for health, aid

(MENAFN) Billionaire Bill Gates proclaimed that he's counting on Trump's pragmatism when it comes to the president's policies on health spending and foreign aid.

Last month, Gate wrote an article saying the president's cuts to foreign aid would make America less safe, signaled confidence that Trump's proposed reductions to health spending won't go safe amid Congress.

Additionally, Trump's budget proposal last month called for reducing the National Institutes of Health's budget by USD5.8bn in fiscal year 2018.

Another, which reduces funding for global programs by 28.5 percent, prompted a rare public rebuke last month from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
