Sithad and his group, along with other villagers, participated in a village meeting that discussed the cost of safe drinking water.

In the meeting, they discussed the costs of treating local water supplies. Charcoal, firewood, and even bottled water were considered and priced out over 4 years. Similarly, the cost of medical care for water-borne disease was discussed.

The water filter Sithad and his group purchased is guaranteed for 4 years but is known to function for up to 5 years. Sithad was excited to learn the filter was available on an affordable payment plan.

Sithad and his group recognized the substantial financial savings the water filter will have for them and their families, as well as the impact safe water will have on their health.

More about this loan Your loan will be used to support a group of village borrowers in purchasing TerraClear water filter sets through flexible financing. Please note that this loan will be used to provide villagers with needed goods, as opposed to cash or financial credit.

A majority of TerraClear's customers cannot afford to pay the full upfront cost of the water filter. As a result TerraClear has created a village sales model that will allow groups of customers to pay small installments for up to 11 months. No interest or fees are charged for the first 4 months. All villagers who require more time to repay are charged a small per visit fee on a monthly basis so that TerraClear can cover the costs of providing this service.

Please note that due to the flexible nature of this repayment plan, loan schedules will appear as a single repayment at the end of the loan term. However, TerraClear will collect repayments on and return funds to Kiva lenders on a monthly basis.
