Morocco, Strong Partner of Burkina Faso: Burkinabe Minister

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Casablanca – Morocco is a strong partner of Burkina Faso, particularly in the economic field where the Kingdom is emerging as a model in several key sectors, said Alpha Oumar Dissa, Burkinabe minister of Energy, Mines and Carriers.

During the 5th edition of the International Africa Development Forum, held recently in Casablanca, Dissa spoke with Maghreb Arab Press (MAP). He underlined the importance of the country's relationship with Morocco.

'In the framework of Burkina Faso's implementation of its National Economic and Social Development Plan (PNDES),' he explained, 'which is supposed to boost several key sectors, Morocco can support the government of Burkina Faso to achieve the objectives set by this accelerated growth strategy over the 2016-2020 period.'

The official praised the excellent relationship between Morocco and Burkina Faso. He stressed that Moroccan firms are well placed to support the Burkinabe government in its implementation of the PNDES, in the framework of a public-private partnership. He attributes this to the experience and know-how of Moroccan businesses.

The two countries, he noted, should reinforce their cooperation in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure and energy. Dissa added that Morocco's great expertise in renewable energies can only benefit his country.

The Burkinabe minister then turned his attention to Morocco's return to the African Union. He said that the Kingdom's return to the Pan-African organization would boost economic cooperation between Morocco and his country, particularly in the sectors of energy and agriculture.
