TAIZ, 2nd April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent Authority has continued providing urgent humanitarian aid and relief to the people displaced from the governorate of Taiz, as part of its efforts to support the Yemeni people.

The aid comes as part of the UAE's strong efforts to relieve the intensity of the humanitarian crisis among the area's residents, due to the war which followed the coup by the Houthi minority.

The Red Crescent Foundation today sent a shipment of aid and tents for children from the governorate of Taiz who are now at Al Maqatara schools, which are located between the governorates of Lahij and Taiz, as part of its humanitarian efforts for the liberated governorates.

Abdullah Al Samati, Director of the Al Maqatara Bureau, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the UAE for its timely assistance, while praising the efforts of the Emirates Red Crescent in sending humanitarian aid and relief.

Al Samati stated that the assistance from the Emirates Red Crescent Authority came as an answer to the calls made by the area's displaced people, after fleeing disputed areas in the Taiz Governorate.

He added that the assistance included providing tents to Al Maqatara schools that were damaged by the war, which have become shelters for the displaced people escaping the conflict.
