L'Oréal Egypt's managing director, Benoit Julia, said that the company's art production facility in 10th of Ramadan City exports 90% of its total production to the Middle East and North African countries.
He added that to do so, the factory has nearly 200 employees, 197 of whom are Egyptian.
He explained that the factory currently produces 80m units of hair products, including colouring products, skincare products, and cosmetics.
He stated during a factory visit on Tuesday that the factory uses the international standards of L'Oréal Paris, adding that the factory is equipped with six liquid manufacturing vessels and 18 filling and packing lines, which cost €50m to establish.
Julia added that the company believes in the Egyptian market, which made it one of the top three companies in the sector.
He stated that L'Oréal is willing to increase its production to 120m units in the near future to meet the local demand and increase its exports.
He also stated that the company will open its new project, L'Oréal Hair Institution, in May. This will be a hair dressing academy that aims at graduating well trained, professional hairdressers.
L'Oréal Egypt has been present in Egypt since 2009. The company employs nearly 473 people. Today, the subsidiary covers a range of brands from the Group's four divisions, offering to the Egyptian market 14 of its 34 global brands, including L'Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York, Garnier, Lancome, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Vichy, La Roche, Posay, L'Oréal Professionnel, and Kerastase, Julia said.
Moreover, the Cairo plant director, Anup Dutt, stated that L'Oréal's core emphasis on sustainable development placed it as a role model for industrial facilities inside Egypt. He said that through its global programme 'Sharing Beauty with All', the factory has shepherded a new template for business ingenuity. In 2016, the factory managed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 29%, water consumption by 27%, and transportable waste by 32%.
