RAF has supplied four million textbooks at a cost of QR8.2m to Syrian students sheltering in Turkey.
More than 314,000 students benefited from the project in 22 governorates of Turkey.
The initiative was part of the massive educational projects launched by RAF for Syrian refugees. It is aimed at providing educational opportunities to Syrian students who dropped out of schools due to displacement and those seeking asylum abroad, said Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF.
The project was financed by the endowment fund of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani for charity works, he added.
Al Qahtani was speaking at a ceremony held in Turkey to mark the achievement of the project. The event was attended by Mehmet Gormez, Head of Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate.
The project was implemented by RAF' office in Turkey in collaboration with Turkish religious endowment under the supervision of Turkish Education Ministry.
The textbooks covered all types of syllabus required for 314,000 students of Syrian refugees for all school grades including primary, preparatory and secondary. The books covered subjects like Arabic language, science, mathematics, chemistry, and physics, among others.
The RAF has implemented 23 projects at a cost of QR18.4m to provide educational facilities to Syrian students in the past six years. More than 413,000 Syrian students displaced inside the country and those taking shelter in neighbouring countries benefited from the projects.
The move came in line with the initiative of Qatar for providing educational opportunities to 400,000 Syrian refugees and those displaced inside the country.
The "Qatar Upholding Education for Syrians' Trust, QUEST, initiative was announced in September last year. The initiative aims at ensuring that children and young people who have suffered in the Syrian war are able to get the necessary education and skills that enable them to move to formal education and find good jobs in the future to be active members of their community.
