Qatar Youth Hostels (QYH) marked Earth Hour on Saturday in the presence of 14 nationalities residing at their premises.
The residents switched off unnecessary lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm to mark the occasion. QYH will organise a celebration in cooperation with The British School of Doha on March 29, coinciding with the Energy Conversation Week and The World Water Day.
The event comes as part of QYH's efforts to promote community awareness on most important global and local issues.
"Qatar celebrates with the rest of the world, the World Water Day to increase people's awareness on the importance of water in all aspects of life and focus on its judicious use and sustainable management," said Amal Dib, Business Development Manager at QYH.
'Students of the British School of Doha have invented an energy conservation application named ‘Energy now' and ranked among top three teams in competition conducted by Microsoft titled ‘Code Camp'."
