Russian police arrest opposition leader with protesters


(MENAFN) In Russia, police had arrested hundreds of people were protesting across Russia, including the leader of opposition party Alexei Navalny after thousands demonstrated in streets against corruption and demand the resignation of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

As the protests considered the largest since 2011-2012 anti Kremlin protests, come a year before a presidential election that Putin is expected to contest.

According to a Reuters reporter, police detain Navalny, who hopes to run against Putin, as he walked along central Moscow's Tverskaya Street with supporters.

Navalny said: "I'm happy that so many people came out (onto the streets) from the east (of the country) to Moscow."
