In the lead up to the eighth Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), organisers Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) have partnered with Qatar Culinary Professionals (QCP) to deliver a healthy food and nutrition awareness programme at primary and middle schools around Doha.
QCP members, including chefs from the Armenian-Lebanese restaurant Mamig and local vegan restaurateur Ghanem Al Sulaiti, are helping students distinguish between healthy nutrition and unhealthy foods, and understand the benefits and disadvantages of each.
At the school visits, the chefs are preparing healthy and tasty snacks in front of the students, helping them gain a visual understanding of where food comes from and an appreciation of healthy alternatives to common snacks. Among the schools included in the campaign are Al Hekma, Lycee Franco-Qatarien Voltaire, Doha English Speaking School, Qatar academy, Al Maha, Al Jazeera Academy, Pearling Season, Lycee Bonaparte and Newton International.
