Bahrain busts terrorist cell - agency

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, March 26 (KUNA) -- Bahraini authorities have clamped down on a terrorist cell comprising 14 members, the official Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported late Sunday.

It quoted an interior ministry as saying that that cell was planning to launch attacks on as many as possible of security personnel with the intention to kill, as well as targeting vital locations in the Kingdom.

Ammunition, explosives and locally-made grenades were found and seized at the cell's hideout, it noted, adding that a number of laptops, cell phones and cameras were also confiscated.

The interior ministry statement said the cell was working under direct supervision of two exiled Bahrainis living in Iran, one of them recently designated by the United States as a "global terrorist".

According to BNA, six of the arrestees received military training in camps under Iranian Revolutionary Guard supervision. (end) mge.hb
