(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Hong Kong man surnamed Chow lost HK$1,500 — about US$200 — to a foreign female swindler in an internet scam as he tried to recover videos that showed his naked body, local media reported.
Chow, 18, was in an online chat with an unidentified foreign woman who encouraged him to take off his clothes in front of the webcam, Sing Tao Daily reported. The woman then used the recording to blackmail the man, who transferred HK$1,500 to her, Apple Daily reported.
Realizing he could still be cheated, Chow called the police, Apple Daily said. The reports did not disclose the nationality of the scammer.
