Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister said India will seal the international frontiers with Pakistan and Bangladesh in the near-future.
He said this would help fight terrorism and the predicament of refugees.
Singh stated that by 2018 the border with Pakistan will be sealed by 2018 because of the increasing in infiltration attempts.
He also lauded the BSF for their work on protecting the borders.
Timeline Particulars Indo-Bangladesh border
The Indo-Bangladesh border, locally known as the International Border (IB), demarcates the six divisions of Bangladesh and the states of India.
The two countries share a 4,096-km border, the fifth longest border in the world.
It runs along the borders of Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and a major portion in West Bengal.
Both governments signed the Land Boundary Agreement to simplify the border.

This agreement was ratified by the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh in 1974.
Under the revised agreement, adopted on 7th May, 2015, India received 51 Bangladeshi enclaves and Bangladesh received 111 enclaves.
Physical exchange of enclaves stands to be implemented in phases between 31st July, 2015 and 30th June, 2016.
Enclave residents are allowed to reside on either side of the border.

The Indo-Bangladesh border is also used as a route for smuggling livestock, food items, medicines and drugs from India to Bangladesh. Illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are known to cross over the border to India.

Stationary aerial platforms like aerostats loaded with intelligent, high-resolution cameras can monitor the borders.
02 Dec 2016 India to set up smart-border at Pak, Bangladesh fronts
Director General of BSF KK Sharma said that several global firms are assessing India's borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan in an attempt to set up a multi-layered patrol-free smart fence.
Sharma said the fence is likely to be put up at both borders by the end of 2017 and "few pilot projects are already on in Jammu and one each in Punjab and Gujarat."
26 Dec 2016 Indo-Bangla border will be sealed by 2018
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the 223.7 km Indo-Bangla border would be completely sealed by 2018 and that it was a priority for the government.
He made the statements while steering clear of talking about illegal migration or illicit drug trade along the Indo-Bangla border.
He also clarified that the border would not affect the bilateral cross-border trade between India and Bangladesh.
