Ankara, March 25 (QNA) - President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he would run for the next presidential elections if his party, the Justice and Development (AK), decided to nominate him."If my Justice and Development (AK) party nominates me as the next president, then we'll proceed together. If they choose someone else, that person will rule the country," Erdogan said in a speech before a crowd during the opening of a number of projects in Turkey's Aegean Denizli province on Friday.

Erdogan said that April's approaching referendum aims to create a Turkish-type presidential system to carry the already-democratic and prosperous country a step further, adding that a local and national presidency would be within the framework of Turkish Republic's founding principles from 1923, Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.

He said that the next presidential election will be in November 2019 if the April 16 referendum on sweeping constitutional changes is passed. The President underlined that the reforms offered in the coming referendum aimed to ensure Turkey's political system stays stable and secure. (QNA)
