Jordan- Arab Economic and Social Council discusses economic files


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Dead Sea, March 23 (Petra)--Assistant Arab League Secretary General for Social Affairs Badr El Din Alali said that meeting of the senior officials of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League in the Dead Sea area discussed on Thursday a number of Arab economic files.

He said in a press statement following that meeting, that the officials agreed on a number of solutions and resolutions that will be presented to meeting of the council at the ministerial level, and then to the Arab leaders taking part in the summit on March 29.

Alali said the officials approved a report by the secretary general on economic and social work that includes steps taken by the Arab League to implement resolutions of previous Arab summits.

The meeting, he added also discussed the Greater Arab Free Trade Area as it is one of the most important topics for joint Arab action that would lead to Arab economic integration, in addition to the opening of borders for Arab commodities and services.

Other topics for discussion also included the issue of refugees and the displaced people in light of the conflicts in the region.
