KUWAIT CITY, March 21: Despite the huge success of the documentary film titled 'Tarweeka fi Beirut' (Breakfast in Beirut), which was directed by Kuwaiti director Farah Al-Hashim, at the 31st Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, at the Lebanese Film Festival in Australia as well as in a film festival in Italy, the film has been banned from the 1st Film Festival in Kuwait, reports Al- Anba daily.
The organizing committee of the 1st Film Festival in Kuwait has informed director Al-Hashim about the decision of the Supervisory Committee of Ministry of Information to ban the film. In the letter sent by the supervisory committee to the organizing committee of the festival, the reasons for the ban were elaborated, which included irregularities in the dress code, and use of dialogues in some scenes which contradict the customs and traditional standards of the country.
Meanwhile, the prominent Kuwait actor Saad Al-Faraj recently was a guest in the radio show titled 'Al-Qaila' which is presented by Iman Nejm and Mohanad Yousef, produced by Saleh Al-Duwaikh, Fatmah Al-Qallaf and Heba Al-Awadi, directed by Jassem Mohammad and coordinated by Ibtisam Abdulhaleem, reports Al-Anba daily.
During his interview, Al-Faraj discussed about the status of the Kuwaiti theater industry, stressing that the industry needs state support. He affi rmed that the construction of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center and Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center has contributed to the return of culture in Kuwait. In the meantime, the concert of Emirati singer Balqees Fathi, which was due to be held on March 24 at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, has been canceled, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a reliable source.
