Morocco- Awards of excellence Handed Out at Crans Montana Forum

Dakhla – The Crans Montana Forum Foundation awarded prizes and gold medals to international figures in recognition for their efforts and initiatives in building a better world. The accolades were presented during a ceremony held Saturday.

Presenters for the 2017 Foundation awards included Environment Minister Hakima El Haite, Special Advisor to the Special Advisor to the Secretary–General of the United Nations in charge of Innovative Financing for Development. Philippe Douste-Blazy, President of Vanuatu, Baldwin Lonsdale, and Speaker of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, also handed out awards and medals to deserving recipients.

Gold medals were awarded to the King of Shai in the Republic of Ghana, Drolor Bosso Adamtey, Minister of Health of Solomon Islands and Tautai Agikimua Kaitu'u, Minister of Women, Youth, Childhood and Family Affairs of Solomon Island. Freda Ab Tuki Soriacommua, Founder of the Princesses of Africa Foundation (South Africa) and Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Jamaica, also received gold medals. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Health and Life Quality of the Republic of Mauritius, Anwar Husnoo, and Chairperson of the Women's Collective Against Illegal Migration in Senegal, Yayi Bayam Diouf, rounded out the list of gold medal recipients.

The theme of this year's Crans Montana Forum is 'Towards the New Africa of the 21st Century: Stability, Cohesion and Solidarity for Sustainable Development: The Structuring Role of Morocco in Africa.' It has brought together nearly a thousand participants and personalities from 36 European countries, 27 American states, 44 African countries and 43 states from Asia and Oceania.

In addition, there are participants from 40 international and regional organizations. That adds up to more than 900 participants, including Heads of State and Government, ministers, speakers of Parliaments, policy-makers, MPs and international experts, in addition to former Heads of State and distinguished guests.

Food security and sustainable agriculture will be the star topics of discussion at a high-level meeting, during which Morocco's innovative policies, shared with its African partners, will be highlighted. Other hot topics will include public health, renewable energies, management of natural resources and maritime industry.
