Thirteen QSL stars jet off for international duty


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) It's not only Qatar players who will be leaving their respective Qatar Stars League sides during the international break. Thirteen QSL international stars will be joining up with their national sides hoping to aid them in qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
In Asia, it's the six and seventh rounds of qualification and eight QSL players will be hoping to make the difference for their teams in group A. The South Korean trio of Nam Tae Hee of Lekhwiya and Kooky Han of Al Gharafa and Koh Myongjin of Al Rayyan have been called up for the Taegeuk Warriors. The South Koreans will take on China before a home match against Syria.
Two Iranian players in the form of defenders Morteza Pouraliganji of Al Sadd and Pejman Montazeri of Al Ahli has joined up with the Iranian national team ahead of their qualification matches against Qatar and China.
Team Melli will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Uzbekistan Head coach Samvel Babayan has called up two QSL based players ahead of his sides games against Syria and a home match against Qatar. Both El Jaish winger Sardor Rashidov and Al Sailiya striker Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov have been given the nod.
Umm Salal attacker Mahmoud al-Mawas has been called up by the Syrian national team for their two qualification matches against Uzbekistan and China, which are due to take place on the 23rd and 28th of March. Finally, over in Group B and Muaither's Iraqi striker Ahmed Yasin has been called up for his countries crunch qualification games against Australia and Saudi Arabia
Over in Africa and only one player based in the QSL has been selected for the upcoming round of friendly matches. Lekhwiya midfielder Yusef Msakni has been called up for the Tunisian national team for games against Camaroon and an away friendly against Morocco.
European qualification for the 2018 World Cup will see three QSL players will be representing their countries. Al Gharafa winger Vladimir Weiss has been called up for the Slovakian national team for their qualification game against Malta. Likewise team mate and Hungary striker Krisztián Németh has been called up to represent the Mygars, who will be taking on European Champions Portugal in a tough away encounter.
Finally Al Sailiya defender Drago? Grigore has been handed the captain's armband for Romania as they take on Denmark in a home match, which is set to take place on Sunday the 26th of March. The QSL wishes all players representing their national teams luck as they battle for Russia 2018 World Cup qualification.
