(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Continuing to promote road safety under the banner of its 'Rakiz Wa Sooq' Road Safety Campaign, Bank Sohar is focusing on child safety in cars and the importance of child locks for the month of March. These tips are in line with the 2017 road safety Campaign under the slogan 'I Pledge for our Children'.
Highlighting the importance of child safety in cars, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM of HR and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar, said, 'We have always placed great emphasis on promoting the safety and security of the community in which we operate in. As a result, promoting road safety has always been a key component of CSR initiatives right from our very inception. The importance of child locks in cars cannot be understated. As a community-oriented bank, we consider it our responsibility to spread our knowledge and information on the importance of equipment that can easily prevent incidents from happening and endangering children. This comes as part of our aim to spread awareness on how to keep children safe both as passengers in a vehicle and as pedestrians. This is of great importance to us and is the core message of our calendar this year.'
Child locks in vehicles are amongst the most important devices to ensure a child's safety but are commonly overlooked. Available in nearly every modern vehicle, a child lock prevents the rear doors from being opened from inside the vehicle. In most vehicles it can usually be activated using a little toggle switch, which locks to either on or off, and can be adjusted for each door individually.
'This system, however, is only an additional layer of protection for children. We advise all parents to keep themselves and their children bucked up at all times before travelling using proper certified child safety seats and booster seats wherever required. In doing so, not only will you be setting a good example but you will also be teaching your children the fundamentals of road safety that will ensure that they grow into responsible adults in the future,' added Munira.
