AJMAN, 19th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Ajman will be the sight of the next Desert Warrior Challenge, which has an even more challenging obstacle course this year for the bravest of competitors.
Desert Warrior Challenge Ajman 2017, one of the UAE's largest obstacle races taking place at Al Zorah Golf Club, will be held on 24th March 2017.
Designed to test mental fortitude, endurance and teamwork, the competition invites members of the public – from young children to seasoned athletes – to face myriad challenges by employing different tactics, whether it be running, jumping, carrying, climbing or sliding towards the finish line.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler's Representatives for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Sheikh Abdul Azizbin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Department of Tourism Development, Sheikh Humaid bin Ammar Al Nuaimi and Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Nuaimi, will be among those challengers who will tackle a selection of obstacles.
''We are extremely excited to participate in the first Desert Warrior Challenge of 2017 in Ajman. We are looking forward to greater participation from both Emiratis and expatriate residents,'' noted Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.
Faisal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of Ajman Department of Tourism Development, the event organiser, said attendance and participation by the emirate's leaders hs provided a large boost to the event.
"Sporting events such as Desert Warrior Challenge Ajman will put Ajman on the map, as both a premier sports and tourism destination, and we look forward to hosting challengers from here and abroad during the event," he added.
Since being founded in Dubai in 2014, the competition has quickly become a popular fixture in the #UAE sporting calendar, with last year's race in Dubai attracting over 2,300 people. The Ajman event is expected to see the participation by 1000 athletes.
The courses available in Ajman are the 5km Fearless for ages 16 and over, as well as two Junior courses – the 1km for ages six to nine and the 2km for ages 10 to 15.
Participants can expect to confront such obstacles as The Warrior Zip, Marine Madness Zone, Walk the Plank and Chimney to greet them as they attempt to reach the finish line.
Warriors can expect new obstacles, including "Warrior Zip" and "The Chimney" – with DWC spicing up the repertoire to offer an entirely different experience from previous editions.
While the favourite "Marine Madness Zone" will make its comeback to keep contestants cool and wet, younger warriors can also rise to the occasion by signing up for the 5km"Fearless" and 1/2km "Junior" categories, in a day in which families are sure to remember for years to come.
